What lives in my head is only glimpsed by me, washed over under waves of unrelenting imagery. To present obscure ideas with an effective clarity, to represent their unique individuality, to reproduce their dimensionally, is the challenge to me a challenge I undertake vigilantly, faced with so much to say and see, in such amazing reality. These themes then shown, known or unknown, exist as they present themselves to me.
As the canvas of the artist has changed through the epochs, the electronic contained-lightning of the computer monitor has begun its reign as the canvas of the age. With the vast wealth of accessible colors and images as well as capacities to manipulate them, the contained-lightning is the collage artist's dream milieu: appropriately, I paint with pixels.
My métier categorized would be collage surreal, with a cluttered hyper realism. (I don't know what that means, as I just made it up, but I'll be damned if it doesn't sound impressive.) Western Reality has become accumulation, storage and disposal my work picks through the clutter and launches the effective combination into the creative ether. I work to convey a deeper reality than would be expected with all the garish and brilliant colors I use, tones to draw the unsuspecting in, where things of darker import lurk.
SCREAMING IN THE VACUUM
Unheard over the tsunami of human outpouring that is the World Wide Web, it struck me that I was screaming in a vacuum. The irony of introducing a lament of futility into the very milieu that made the futility manifest was too great to resist this cry would be ignored in as many media as available. Thus was born: Screaming in the Vacuum.
My initial expression was lyrical, followed by music. Of course music in the 21st century needs visual accompaniment and as we are all alone together, hurling through space eternal, the vacuum of space was the appropriate setting. Realizing that the majority of the photography of the Hubble Space Telescope is public domain, my course was not only clear, but amazing and breathtaking.
As Screaming in the Vacuum evolves, additional themes present themselves, which I readily pursue out of that need to express but also in the joy of the challenge this medium presents. These works will continue as long as I maintain the capacity to produce and present them. Your patronage allows me that capacity.
